Brian and I had such fun with Mark and Adrienne last weekend during their engagement photo session. There are so many beautiful images of the lovely couple...in fact, I am overwhelmed by the thought of narrowing down those that I will share on the AHPhoto Blog! In the meantime, here is a sneak peek of B and I in action with some hints at what is to come...

little man

Lifeandrea

Our dear friends, Erin and Joe, welcomed their little man to the world a few weeks ago. What a cutie! He was so patient during his photo session and didn't fuss for even a minute.

Many congratulations you two! xoxo.

hello boston, I'd love to meet you!

Lifeandrea

I will be visiting Boston, MA next weekend, and have a few openings for 60-90 minute portrait sessions!  Don't you want to have some photo fun with me in Beantown?!?  If you're interested in discussing a session for October 10th or 11th, please send an email to ah@andreahubbell.com.  I'd love to meet you!

Last Saturday Brian and I spent the afternoon with our good friends Tommy + Kristin.  There was wine tasting.  And a picnic.  And more wine.

The weather was lovely.  It is starting to feel just a touch like Fall around here.  We took advantage and found some vines to play amongst, and after that a corn field.

It was a good Saturday, one I hope to repeat very, very soon.  Thanks T + K, you were such fun to photograph!

hankie

Lifeandrea

This is Hank.  We call him Hankie.  And Hank-A-Pank.  And Bubba.  And Pooh-Bear.

I feel a bit sorry for our future children.

Hankie loves his ball.  His Momma loves her new Canon 35mm f/1.4L lens.  We had fun with both in the fading light this evening...

christina + evan's lakeside wedding

Lifeandrea

Christina and I have known each other since the fifth grade.  Fifth grade!  In high school we staged photo sessions; each of us dressing up and posing for the camera while the other clicked away behind the lens. We've kept in touch over the years but hadn't seen each other in quite some time until a mutual friend's wedding last Fall.  Things clicked right back into place and we've done a much better job of keeping in closer contact. Brian and I were introduced to Evan at that same wedding last October, and it was immediately apparent how perfect he and Christina are for each other. I was incredibly honored and excited when they asked me to photograph their wedding day.

Christina and Evan planned a small, simple ceremony at sunset on the shore of Jordan Lake, just outside Durham, North Carolina, on August 21. They invited a group of close friends and family to the ceremony, as well as their dogs! The guests stood on the shore as they watched their friends exchange vows by the water's edge while the dogs splashed in the distance. The light was perfect, the setting beautiful, the couple jubilant.

Congratulations Christina and Evan! Much love to you both.

The couple is storing this vintage loveseat for a friend, and wisely thought it would be perfect for some portraits before the wedding.

Christina...you are gorgeous! And you sure do know how to work the camera...

I think the shot below is my favorite...

Hmmm...or maybe this shot is my favorite?  So hard to choose...

Christina made the simple wedding banner for she and Evan to stand in front of.  It was perfect.

Pruett and Daphne, who mostly played in the water while their parents said 'I Do'.

a baby celebration

Food, Lifeandrea

Last weekend we gathered with friends to celebrate the forthcoming birth of a new family. The party was co-hosted by myself and two lovely ladies, all of us brought together by our shared bond to the dad and mom-to-be. We were lucky to have near-perfect weather, which allowed us to spend a relaxing evening outside sharing stories and laughter as candlelight flickered across happy faces.

Congratulations Joe and Erin, we are so excited to meet your baby boy!

[self] portaits on chincoteague

Because I am almost always behind the lens Brian and I have very few photographs of the two of us together. We decided to remedy the situation by bringing the tripod to the beach with us last weekend. We spent two evenings running back and forth between our chosen photo places and the camera, racing the 10 second timer. The light was luciously golden, the breeze surprisingly comfortable. I told myself I was practicing for an evening, shore-side wedding I am shooting in less than 2 weeks, but really we were just having a lot of fun.

on the eastern shore

Brian and I spent last weekend on Chincoteague, a place I've wanted to visit since I was ten years old and read all about Misty. The island was busier than we expected, packed full of tourists and mediocre restaurants. But our B&B was quaint, our breakfasts delicious, our time on the shore relaxing and pleasant. We loved the solitude we found in the protected landscape of Assateague, the quietness of the beach after a half-mile walk away from all the people.

Here are some images from our very memorable weekend. I hope we return one day.

welcome!

Lifeandrea

Hello there!  Welcome to my photo blog, and thank you for visiting.

Some of you may know me as the creator of Bella Eats, the recipe-sharing blog I started nearly two years ago. If you’ve come here from there...thank you. I appreciate your support in this new endeavor of mine.

As Bella Eats has grown these last 21 months so has my passion for photography. While being behind a camera has been natural to me since I was a young girl, there were several years in the last ten that were devoted solely to architecture and my pursuit of good design. I credit that background in architecture for the unique perspective I now have behind the camera.  My photographic intent is to marry modern styling with a natural aesthetic to produce timeless, evocative images that tell a story about the place, product, food or person I am capturing.

I am so excited to have this little space from which to share my current projects and inspiration, and hope you will check back often or subscribe to the RSS feed for updates. Until then, my portfolio is up-to-date with a sample of images from projects I've worked on this last year.

And now, Brian and I are off to a vacation on Chincoteague Island! We'll say hello to Misty for you.
