The second live/work space featured in the October ABODE is the home studio of interior designer Jeannette Andamasaris, of JAID. I love her eclectic taste and mix of old and new, as well as the abundant light that pours through the windows of her 2nd floor loft. Pick up the issue, on stands now, to read Jeannette's story!

published | cville abode | abby kasonik's studio
Published, SpaceThe newest Cville ABODE is on stands now! The feature story this month focuses on the live/work studios of three local women; two artists and one designer. I loved meeting each of these women and photographing their lovely, creative spaces. Each deserves their own post, and today I am starting with painter Abby Kasonik's backyard studio. I love the bright, open space with oversized plants and a collection of unique found objects.
living space 5 | a fry's spring family
Living Space, SpaceThis is the fifth installment of my living space series, in which I spend a few hours in a home capturing the details of the lives lived within its walls.
I was first introduced to Adrienne and her home when I photographed her children's playroom for Cville Abode. We have a mutual friend, Anita, and when I put a request on Facebook for my next living space home, Anita sent me Adrienne's information. I immediately recalled how much I loved the space she's created for her family, mostly from thrifting and salvaging unique pieces. This Fry's Spring bungalow nestled in the trees gave me the opportunity to really play with shadow, and I embraced the moodier feel of rooms when they are lit only by the light streaming through the craftsman windows. I love the subdued palette puncutuated by the ocassional pop of color and Adrienne's eye for spying beautiful pieces in unexpected places.
Thank you, Adrienne, for inviting me into your home!
If you have or know of a living space that you would like to see documented, please contact me here.

Food, Restaurant, SpaceOur long wait is over. Charlottesville finally has a pho restaurant! Vu Nguyen, owner and chef at Zinc, will open Moto Pho Co. to the very excited people of Charlottesville tomorrow, August 1st. He designed the clean, modern space that is bright with natural light by day and glowing, exposed lightbulbs by night. I love the community tables and the painted brick walls.

bridal session at hawthorn
SpaceI spent two days in West Virginia with the talented ladies of 224 Design and Dollilop Designs last month, creating images for a bridal marketing piece for Hawthorn. Unfortunately, it seems that this lovely place may never be open to the public. Regardless, I am pleased to have both Karen and Leslie in my life, and look forward to future collaborative projects with the talented duo.
The images created are meant to portray the essence of the orchards surrounding Hawthorn, and to give couples an idea of what their day would feel like if they chose this beautiful backdrop for their spring wedding.
SCARPA | spring!
Retail, SpaceIt is no secret that I adore SCARPA. For the last few months I've been documenting Spring in the shop with the help of the talented Kai'li, SCARPA blogger, social media extrordinaire, and stylist. It has been such a pleasure to spend a couple of hours in the shop each week with her, soaking in the beauty of the space and their merchandise.
fosteria design and woodworks | lifestyle imagery
Retail, SpaceWhen Tina and Mark, owners of Fosteria Design and Woodworks, contacted me about styling and photographing their designs they asked if I had any thoughts about where we might set up our shoot. I came up with some ideas and met them at their home to see the pieces in person...and completely fell in love with their beautiful, historic farmhouse. Tina has done a wonderful job with the interior, using soft neutrals and natural materials throughout each room. It was the perfect setting to photograph their lovely designs, which are all made with reclaimed wood and found objects.
Tina and Mark are a talented duo, designing and crafting clocks, coat racks, furniture (check out Mark's desk!) and even delicate candlesticks. Rather than photograph their pieces in a generic setting without context, I wanted to capture them in a lived-in space that would add to the personality of their brand. Tina and I worked to style each vignette while Mark moved and hung clocks and coat racks where we asked. It was a great day, and I am so pleased with the images captured!

Food, Published, SpaceI am so honored to have been asked to write, style, and photograph a story in the new wedding publication, The Clutch Guide. For the recipes of some of our favorite NOLA dishes, check out pages 47-53 online.
Many thanks to Jennifer Prince of Hill City Bride for asking me to be part of such a beautiful publication!

published | a room of one's own
Published, SpaceTo follow my images of Cate's home, I wanted to share this image from the March issue of Abode. It is the space of Iñaki Alday, chair of the Department of Architecture at UVA, and partner in the firm owned by he and his wife, aldayjover. I love this quote that Cate captured from Iñaki:
"A compliment we received from a photographer once was that our work is hard to photograph. We think this is good. It means the qualities are not obvious and staged in a way that looks like a set. I have a hard time with spaces that are designed only to look great in a photograph. Rooms are meant to be lived in." - Iñaki Alday
