I had the great pleasure of spending a warm day in May at a working farm outside of Charlottesville that raises a herd of grass-fed cows and grapes for locally-made wine. The owners and their farm family are a close-knit group, working together to ensure the happiness of all who live on the property. We ended our time together with a meal in the garden, lovingly prepared by chef Ingrid Berger.

I spent a day in June at Early Mountain Vineyard in Madison, Virginia, creating images for their website and marketing materials. The tasting room and event hall are sited beautifully to capture the surrounding view of mountains and vines. It is the perfect venue for an afternoon of wine tasting before summer's end. I also love the idea of scheduling a private tasting in the cellar with a few close friends. Or, a party in that barn on the hill! What a dreamy setting.

I was thrilled to spend a morning with Stephanie, learning about her process and the ingredients that go into her artisanal treats while styling and capturing lifestyle images for her marketing materials. I first met Sandy years ago when C-Ville Weekly hired me to take a portrait of her in her favorite space. When she got back in touch, wanting portfolio images for her website and product vignettes for her online store, I was thrilled. Who wouldn't want to spend hours with a talented designer, surrounded by French antiques, chatting about food, travel, and family? We hit it off immediately and had a lovely couple of days building her image library.

I am completely smitten with this home on Rutledge Avenue, listed by Loring Woodriff. The owners are long-time friends and clients of mine, responsible for some of my favorite home shoots. I was honored when Corry asked me to create images for his new website and online shop (coming soon!). Brian and I have been admirers of his work for many years and are proud owners of many of his beautiful pieces. I was especially excited when Corry handed me creative control over his photographic brand...even in our back-and-forth discussion about material backgrounds and props he kept repeating 'I trust your eye'.
To be respected by another artist is the best compliment of my work. Thank you, Corry!
Tudor Grove; a home and property steeped in history and filled with character. I was first introduced to her by Abby, whose mother, Camille, inhabits Tudor Grove's many walls. Having photographed Abby's home the previous year, I was especially excited to see Camille's, expecting a similar commitment of style applied to an historic context. Not disappointed, I spent my first visit eagerly soaking in each room trying, unsuccessfully, to take in every, single detail. Camille is a collector; of books, art, plants, photographs and natural curiosities, among other things. It is impossible to see it all at once and even now, many months later, I am still discovering pieces in the images that I missed with my naked eye.

I love working on styled shoots. The meticulous detail and care that went into creating this image with Matt Thomas of Convoy speaks to the architect in me. Convoy created a brochure for Main Street Market featuring all of the businesses enveloped within its walls. I love how it turned out.
Images of Zynodoa Restaurant in Staunton, captured for STOA Design + Construction. Not only do I love the design of this space, but I also adore the food. It's worth the trip over the mountain my Charlottesville friends!
Delicious images captured in the last couple of months for Red Pump Kitchen, on Charlottesville's Downtown Mall. They've just released their new holiday cocktail menu...make your reservations immediately!
I loved working with the Virginia Distillery Company to capture images for their new website designed by ID Company. We shot the first image of the bottle and glass in the C&O bar, a classic Charlottesville spot with moody lighting. Bottles are always challenging; bottles in a dark space are especially challenging and this image made me push myself in an exciting way.
The distillery is located in Lovingston and will soon feature a visitor's center where the public can learn more about their Virginia Highland Malt Whiskey!
I am thrilled to have images I captured of Stephanie Fishwick's home featured in Matchbook Magazine. Stephanie is an amazing artist and calligrapher, and her home reflects the personality that is so clearly shown in her work.

When I was in in the master's program at the UVA School of Architecture I spent a semester working on the ecoMOD Seam project. It was an incredible experience working with other students and our professor and project creator, John Quale, to design and build a real home as part of our education. This summer I was thrilled to photograph the newest project, ecoMOD South, for their portfolio. Here are a few of my favorite images.
I am just starting to emerge from the fog of having a newborn join our family. Clyde is sleeping a bit more at night and is finding his way into happy, alert awake time during the day. This past weekend we joined friends for a weekend in Montross; our first nights away from home with Clyde. We spent a weekend last November at this same wonderful house with these same fabulous friends, minus our two babies. It's amazing how much life can change in twelve months. Maybe next time we visit I'll figure out how to balance caring for and enjoying our son while also capturing photographs; the latter task was limited this year. Even so, these are memories I don't want to forget and I am glad we have a few moments captured at this beautiful place.

Two weeks ago Brian and I welcomed our son, Clyde Thomas, to the world. Born at 5:18pm on September 27th at 7 pounds 1 ounce and 19 inches long, he's perfect in every way.
